Advanced osteoarthritis (measured as Tonnis >1) can be
considered a contraindicator to successful outcomes
following hip arthroscopy, although a subset of these
patients can still report good long term outcomes...
Hip arthroscopy may be an option for those
symptomatic cases with Tonnis >1, particularly if wanting
to push out needing a total hip replacement
Age Distribution by Gender
Majority males (78%, based on those surgical cases)
Males tend to present with hip symptoms younger (average
29 years) while females tend to be older (average 39 years)
Irrespective of age at time of surgery, patients can expect
excellent mid-term outcomes...
